J. Lee Novelli graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2000, where she was an Arthur Russell Morgan Human Rights Law Fellow and articles editor for the journal Human Rights Quarterly . She earned her English literature degree, with honors, in 1995 from The Ohio State University where she was vice president of the student body and was awarded the President's Leadership Citation.
During her last year of law school, Novelli was a visiting student at the City University of New York College of Law, as well as a member of the International Women's Human Rights Law Clinic. After graduation from law school, she continued to live in New York City and worked at a neighborhood agency representing indigent clients in a range of matters, including family law, housing and immigration. Novelli began specializing in family law matters while working at an agency providing legal representation in domestic violence cases. Novelli joined M. Sue Wilson Law Offices, P.A. as an associate in 2005.
Novelli is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in both New York and Minnesota.
Novelli has traveled extensively, including to Venezuela, the Canary Islands and Botswana. She was raised in Ohio, and has also lived for several years in New York and Norway, but has decided she prefers the quality of life in the Twin Cities, where she enjoys gardening, reading, and soap-making.
